Microfiction Day 175 – ‘Chosen’

He had watched too much of life pass him by.

He knew he could be spiky with people. He knew that sometimes he lashed out when someone showed him love, pushing them away when they got too close.

He couldn’t help it. He could never trust that their intentions were good. He had seen too much of the bad, constantly overlooked.

The day he met her was the day everything changed. When she placed small hands on the glass and fogged it up with her candy cotton sweet breath.

“Him mummy! I love black cats the best. I want him.”
