Microfiction Day 222 – ‘The Start’

He came into the world, not kicking and screaming, but with a sense of bewilderment.

As she felt his weight in her arms rather than across her back and in her stomach, she thought of the multiple journeys his life might take. Every decision he would make would mean a different path, a butterfly effect of a life created by his own hand.

She was both excited and terrified for him.

She tried to imagine multiple versions of him, each living a different life, each creating a different purpose.

She kissed his forehead. “You and me together. We’ve got this.”
