Microfiction Day 291 – ‘Jealous’

I don’t know why jealousy is described as green. The green eyed monster. Green with envy.

Green is the colour of freshness, of new life. To me, jealousy is a muddy, sludgy brown, so thick that in certain lights it looks as black as the fenland soil.

Jealousy is an envious feeling towards another person or situation. A desire to have or experience it oneself.

It makes me feel weak. I should be bigger than that. I should be content with what I have and who I am.

But I want what they have.

So I’m going to take it.
