Microfiction Day 329 – ‘The Old Switcheroo’

“Roll up, roll up! Fancy winning a toy for the little lady?”

Parents were his favourites. They could never say no to the watery eyes of their greedy offspring.

He picked up the hoops, knowing that they were too small. With a sleight of hand he pretended to remove one from the bunch, instead placing the one tucked into his waistband over the stuffed cat on the wooden base.

“Get a ring over a base and you win the toy.”

The first ring the man tossed cleared the base with ease.

“What? How?”

The man adjusted his waistband. “Beginner’s luck.”
