Microfiction Day 332 – ‘Enigmatic’

“You must learn not to be defined by the past.”

The young woman sighed. “They didn’t say you talked in riddles. What does that even mean?”

The woman wasn’t offended. She was used to people seeking her out for advice but not always liking it. She never welcomed the rumours about her, but she didn’t push them away either. People thought she was lucky after that man in the newspaper said she’d told him to buy a lottery ticket and he had won.

She patted the woman’s knee. “You aren’t what you’ve done. You’re what you’ll go on to do.”
